• The UOKiK has adopted four decisions on concentration approval.
• They concern undertakings which deal, among other things, with financial services, telecommunications, real estate and the manufacture and sale of meat products.
• The undertakings have two years from the date of the decision to complete the transactions.

The first among the transactions in question is the establishment of a joint venture by ING Bank Śląski and the Czech company Twisto Payments. The entity known as Twisto Polska will engage in activities of the same kind as its Czechia-based counterpart, Twisto Payments. The activities in question include the provision of quick consumer loans, online portfolio services and online payment services.

The second contemplated transaction is the acquisition of Multimedia Polska Energia by Orange Polska. Orange Polska engages in the provision of mobile and landline telecommunication services, including voice conversations, text messaging, Internet access and television services. The company also operates as an electricity supplier. Multimedia Polska Energia engages in activities which involve the sale of electricity and natural gas to end users.

The third decision pertains to the acquisition of the Ujazdówek-based undertaking Cedrob by another company named Silesia, based in Katowice. Cedrob and its subsidiaries engage in the manufacture as well as wholesale and retail distribution of smoked meat products as well as poultry and pork products. In addition, these companies also engage in the manufacture of livestock feed, pig farming and cereal growing. Silesia manufactures and sells red meat and poultry products. The concentration scheme is also intended to cover the company’s subsidiaries, which engage in the manufacture of ready-made meals, dry and wet animal feed, the provision of transportation services as well as the sale of poultry products, meat and processed meat products.

The last among the concentration schemes covered by the UOKiK’s decision is the contemplated acquisition of Kredyt Inkaso by a company called Best. Both participants of the transaction are public companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The undertakings and their subsidiaries operate in the receivables trade and management sector, the legal services sector and the real estate management sector.

According to the provisions of applicable laws, a transaction is subject to notification to the antitrust authority if it involves undertakings whose aggregate turnover generated in the preceding year exceeded EUR 1 billion worldwide or EUR 50 million in Poland.

The decisions approving the concentration expire if the transaction is not completed within 2 years of the adoption thereof. The website of the Competition Authority publishes information on all concentration-related anti-monopoly proceedings conducted by the Authority.
