< previous | next > 20.10.2022

- "Competition protection - good practices and tools - lessons learned by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection and partners" was the topic of a workshop organised by UOKiK, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KSAP (National School of Public Administration) for representatives from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.
- UOKiK has been continuing its expertise-based support for Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries.
- At the invitation of UOKiK, the initiative was joined by the European anti-trust authorities and the EC, OECD, UNCTAD.
Starting last Monday to October 21, Warsaw will host a series of workshops for representatives of anti-trust authorities from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the many aspects of competition protection based on the experiences of practitioners from different countries. The initiative aims to support state officials from Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries under the expert guidance of UOKiK.
The workshop will be led by specialists representing UOKiK and anti-trust authorities from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Spain. Representatives from the European Commission, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the US Department of Justice will also share their know-how and hands-on experience.
During the five-day seminar, a wide range of topics related to competition protection mechanisms will be discussed, including inter alia: case studies of antitrust actions, examples of proceedings or challenges related to the burgeoning entrepreneurial activity in e-business.
Thematic workshops conducted by practitioners will include interactive Question and Answers Sessions and participants' discussions. This will enable an exchange of experience and an in-depth analysis of the issues in the context of the specificities of the individual markets.
- We meet today in Warsaw, only a few hundred kilometres from the Ukrainian border, where the horrors of war are unfolding, battles are being fought and people are dying. I therefore welcome even more cordially the representatives of Ukraine, and I would like to express our solidarity and support. In the face of war and crisis, we are even more aware of the importance of international cooperation and the benefits it brings. I firmly believe that the international workshop beginning today offers a quality forum for the exchange of experience in order to enhance the competencies of the institutions established to safeguard and protect competition - President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, says.
