UOKiK at the Internet Governance Forum

- UOKiK is organizing two panels at the Internet Governance Forum, which will take place from November 28 to December 2, 2022 in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
- Representatives of the Office will speak on November 29 and 30 in discussions on artificial intelligence and dark patterns in consumer protection.
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2022) will be held in Addis Ababa from November 28 to December 2. IGF 2022 is an international meeting initiated by the United Nations. The conference will be attended by representatives of public administration, academia, NGOs and business. The topics of discussion will come under the overarching theme of Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future.
Representatives of UOKiK will participate in two panels, to be held on Tuesday November 29 and Wednesday November 30:
- The use of AI in the public sector - how do opportunities & challenges compare? White paper on implementation of an AI-engineered system enhancing consumer protection authority's efficiency in virtual and real worlds - 7:00-8:00 am (Tuesday)
This panel will also include a representative from The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.
- Dark commercial patterns: an online challenge in consumer protection - 10:00-11:00 am (Wednesday)
This panel will also include representatives from the OECD, the European Commission, the University of Exeter, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), the National Directorate of Consumer Protection of Argentina (DNDC), and Ecommerce Europe, who together represent a wide range of experts.
