UOKiK’s Cooperation with Kenya within the framework of the Polish Aid programme
  • Experts from UOKiK visited the headquarters of the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) in Nairobi under the Polish Aid programme.
  • Artificial intelligence, dark patterns, dangerous products, consumer education, communication - these are just some of the topics we have discussed with the Competition Authority of Kenya.
  • This is the second visit under this project; in September this year, a Kenyan delegation visited UOKiK.

The 5-day workshop in Nairobi is another event  organised by UOKiK as part of the project titled “Institutional support for the Competition Authority of Kenya in strenghtening the consumer protection system”. The said project is implemented and financed under the Polish Aid programme overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with other governmental administration bodies - in this case with UOKiK.

The visit took place between 25 and 29 November 2024 and aimed to familiarise the officials of the Kenyan authority with the functioning of the consumer protection system in Poland, present topics related to market surveillance and product safety, and showcase communication, promotional, and educational activities concerning the Polish and EU consumer protection system conducted by UOKiK and the European Consumer Centre (ECC).

For both parties, it was a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences, and we hope that the knowledge gained will be implemented and used in the daily work of the Kenyan authority.
