Banks: Pekao and Pekao Bank Hipoteczny failed to properly fulfil their obligations related to mortgage payment holidays. Both banks shortened the mortgage repayment suspension period and disproportionately extended the repayment period, exposing their customers to an increase in the total cost of the loan.

The President of UOKiK has issued a commitment decision against Pekao S.A. The bank on a mass scale failed to meet the deadlines for responding to complaints and did not explain the reasons for the delay.

In accordance with the Act on Consumer Loan, an early loan repayment equals a return of a portion of commission and some other fees. The President of UOKiK has issued a decision for Profi Credit Polska which obstructed or even prevented its customers from exercising this right.

The President of UOKiK intends to initiate legislative work on an act that would introduce uniform templates for mortgage loan agreements with a fixed interest rate for a defined period into Polish law. These templates would be binding for all lenders, with no possibility for modification.
