UOKiK hosted experts from Peru during the TAIEX study visit
  • A study visit by experts from Peru launched a new TAIEX project implemented by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
  • The meetings were held in Warsaw and Poznań on 15–17 September 2025.
  • The aim of the cooperation is to conduct training in the field of consumer protection, in particular regarding e-commerce regulations and product safety.

The study visit took place within the framework of the TAIEX program and, for the first time, as part of the EU-Latin America and Caribbean Digital Alliance cooperation. Representatives of Peru's National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) visited the headquarters of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) and its branch office in Poznań on 15-17 September 2025.

The topics of the meetings concerned consumer protection (unfair practices on digital platforms, dark patterns, influencer marketing), product safety and market surveillance. The event also included a visit to the Border Customs Office at Chopin Airport and a meeting with experts from the Revenue Chamber in Warsaw, during which practical aspects of cooperation in the area of market surveillance was presented, including the control of air shipments.

The project activities will also include workshops conducted by experts from UOKiK and Belgian Directorate General for Economic Inspection (DGEI) in Lima, which are planned for the end of 2025. The aim of the workshops is to further exchange knowledge and good practices on product safety and market surveillance, as well as to discuss the perspectives of dialogue between EU experts and participants from other regions in order to identify areas for cooperation and technical assistance.

The project for Peru is another UOKiK initiative implemented under TAIEX in 2025. This EU instrument provides an opportunity for flexible expert cooperation (technical assistance and information exchange) between institutions from EU Member States and their counterparts in partner countries, and is financed by the European Commission.
