In 2026, the President of UOKiK has issued eight decisions imposing fines totalling over PLN 2.6 million for payment backlogs. He has also initiated seven proceedings against companies that fail to pay their contractors on time.

The President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, deemed PKO BP’s clauses regarding changes to consumer loan interest rates to be unlawful, prohibited their use, and imposed a fine of nearly PLN 80 million on the bank. The bank is also required to inform consumers of the decision individually and publish a statement on its website and social media.

Banks: Pekao and Pekao Bank Hipoteczny failed to properly fulfil their obligations related to mortgage payment holidays. Both banks shortened the mortgage repayment suspension period and disproportionately extended the repayment period, exposing their customers to an increase in the total cost of the loan.

Nearly PLN 340 million in fines have been imposed on eight companies and two individuals for collusion in the sale of agricultural machinery. The entrepreneurs divided the market and set prices. This is not allowed.

In the Play network, a delay in paying a bill results in the loss of a discount and a higher subscription fee in the following month. A discount structured in this way functions as a legally prohibited contractual penalty for late payment.

For more than 11 years, farmers were unable to purchase Claas agricultural machinery and spare parts at competitive prices or from a dealer of their own choosing. This resulted from a restrictive agreement.
