- Polish, Romanian and Lithuanian competition authorities will jointly implement a twinning project.
- The project will last for 27 months and is scheduled to start at the beginning of October 2024.
- It is funded with EUR 1.5 million from the European Commission.
The consortium formed by the Romanian, Lithuanian and Polish competition authorities has been selected to implement jointly the EU Twinning Project on “Strengthening the institutional capacities of the Competition Council to enforce the competition and state aid policy in line with the EU best practices” in the Republic of Moldova.
As such, the project partners will support the effective application of the competition and state aid laws and the enhancement of the institutional and administrative capacity of the Moldovan Competition Council to act as an EU-like competition agency. This project is particularly timely and relevant given the recent commencement of accession negotiations between Moldova and the EU.
Tomasz Chróstny, President of UOKiK, declared: the Polish and Moldovan competition authorities have engaged in intense bilateral cooperation and developed strong, enduring professional and personal relationships. We are honoured to be awarded this project, to have the opportunity to build on these relationships for its implementation, and to rely on such strong partners as our Romanian and Lithuanian counterparts.
The project, which will last for 27 months and is scheduled to start at the beginning of October 2024, is funded with EUR 1.5 million from the European Commission. The administrative and financial management of the project will be ensured by the Romanian Ministry of Investments and European projects.
